TALA Activewear Size Guide for Hourglass and Curvy Bodies

TALA markets itself as size-inclusive. Does the fit actually deliver for hourglass and curvy shapes? Here's what UK women with curves actually find.

Data sourced from the Forre community · No brand partnerships · Real fit reviews only

TALA is one of the few UK activewear brands that explicitly designs for a range of body shapes, not just a straight size model. In practice, this means the cuts are wider across the hip and thigh than most competitors at the same price point.

How TALA sizing compares

TALA runs true to size to slightly generous across most ranges. Unlike Gymshark (which runs narrow in the hip) or Lululemon (which runs narrow across the thigh), TALA leggings are cut with a more generous lower body ratio.

For hourglass shapes: TALA is one of the best fits on the market at this price. The waistbands are designed to sit at the natural waist and the hip-to-thigh curve is built in rather than something you size around.

By product

Arlo Biker Short — The most-reviewed TALA product by curvy women. Cut with a high hip-to-thigh ratio. Most women with a 40"+ hip find the L fits without pulling at the outer thigh. The compression is firm enough to hold shape but not restrictive.

Morse Code Leggings — These run slightly smaller than the Arlo. The textured fabric has less stretch than plain styles. Size up if you're between sizes.

Contour Seamless Leggings — True to size for most body types. The seamless construction means even if there's a small fit gap, there's no seam digging in.

The sustainability angle

TALA is made from recycled materials, which is part of the appeal. The fabric quality is noticeably better than fast-fashion activewear at a similar price (Shein Sport, PrettyLittleThing Active). It doesn't compare to Lululemon or Sweaty Betty on fabric feel, but the cut — especially for curvy shapes — is often better.

When TALA doesn't work

Petite women (under 5'3") often find TALA leggings run long in the leg, particularly the 7/8 length which hits mid-calf rather than ankle. The Biker Short avoids this entirely.

If you have a straight body shape, the generous hip cut can feel baggy. Gymshark or Adanola may give a more contoured look.
