Running Starter Kit
Starting running? You don't need much — but what you do need matters. The right kit stops chafing, supports you, and makes the whole experience more enjoyable.
Why these items?
Moisture-wicking fabrics prevent the dreaded wet cotton feeling. A high-support sports bra is non-negotiable for running — bouncing is uncomfortable and over time affects tissue. Fitted leggings or shorts stop fabric riding up. Light layers let you warm up then cool down.

Beginner Tips
Start with the Couch to 5K programme — it's free (NHS app or C25K app) and takes you from zero to 5K in 9 weeks. Run at a pace where you can still hold a conversation. Get properly fitted running shoes from a running store — they'll watch you walk and recommend the right support. Your feet will thank you.
Where to Find Classes
Parkrun is free, weekly, and welcoming — find your local one at parkrun.com. Most running stores host free beginner group runs. Nike Run Club and Strava apps are great for tracking progress and finding local runners.
